In the final three years of Mozart's life he suffered many disappointments, and had, in his final year, fallen gravely ill. So, the success of this comedic opera brought him not only substantial happiness and joy, but also success. This abbreviated version of this overture retains all the thematic material, harmonic substance and sound of Mozart's original work, making it accessible for the string orchestra.
