Piano — A 1982 work of about 17 minutes' duration, commissioned for the Baltimore Chamber Music Society by Randolph S. Rothschild and written for Samuel Lipman. The New York Times commended the work's 'lean, ascetic, often contrapuntal style' for its 'long-lined, singing quality' in its review of Mr. Lipman's N.Y. premiere performance in Carnegie Recital Hall in 1983's May.
