These paintings represent a messianic prophecy from the book of Isaiah:The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them. (Isaiah 11:6)When Lara Downes asked me to write her a piano concerto, I took note of her gentle style, and the title THE PEACEABLE KINGDOM came quickly to mind. This lyrical one-movement work is in a modified Rondo form, ABACD.
