Internally, each act is planned as a single organism, an uninterrupted flow.Partly for the purpose of orientation and as an aid during the rehearsal process, I have divided Act I into an introduction and 22 scenes, and Act II into an introduction and 12 scenes. These are not “scenes” in the traditional sense, but rather “situations,” or “focal points,” that flow into one another seamlessly. Measure numbers starting with 1 have been assigned to each scene.
