Flute, Oboe, Flute 2, Clarinet in Bb, Bass Clarinet, Bassoon, Alto Saxophone, Tenor Saxophone, Baritone Saxophone, Trumpet in Bb, Horn in F, Trombone, Euphonium, Bb Euphonium, Tuba, Mallet Percussion, Bells, Timpani, Percussion 1, Snare Drum, Bass Drum, Percussion 2, Crash Cymbals, Suspended Cymbal — All Grade ½’s are playable with only 5 instruments: 1 flute, 2 clarinets, 1 alto saxophone, and 1 trumpet. Those instruments are not always doubled elsewhere. The song is written in such a way, it will sound good with a limited instrumentation and richer and fuller as your band gets bigger. All Grade ½’s by Northeastern Music are playable after only 5 – 7 lessons. At this performance level, no clarinet crosses the break. Kids absolutely love this song! The composition is written in Phrygian Mode so the students get to hear a minor sound without accidentals. The shortest rhythm is a quarter note so you hand it out very early in their studies. The flute players get to play a very easy trill which all find very exciting. The 1st trumpet’s highest note is B.
