Description
Flute — Ho and nami are two Japanese characters and stand for spike and wave. In combination, Honami denotes the wavy swing of a flowering rice field, moved by the wind. The wind is the cause, the rice field is the medium and the wave-shaped oscillating movement the result. In the piece, the flutist has to use his breathing in a similar manner: Breathing is the cause, the score is the medium and the sound of the flute is the result.
