Flute, Piccolo, Oboe, Clarinet in Bb, Bassoon, Horn in F, Piano, Violin 1, Violin 2, Viola, Cello, Double Bass — When Jennifer Montbach asked me to write a piece in celebration of Radius Ensemble’s 25th anniversary, I jumped at the chance. Radius has recorded and performed so many works of mine so beautifully that I wanted to write a true gift for the ensemble. Broadway Boogie Woogie (and the other three works in the set) is a celebration, light hearted, which I hope is fun to play and listen to. I especially wanted to showcase the incredible performers who make up Radius Ensemble, and in particular to write a piece for Jennifer Montbach that features the oboe (Ghost Song).
