Winner of second prize in the 1980 Percussive Arts Society Composition Contest and published by Kendor the following year, this challenging work in three movements combines intricate figures, common and uncommon meters (3/4, 5/4, 5/8, 6/8, 7/8, 11/8, 12/8, etc.), and special effects -- the second movement is played snares off with wire brush in the right hand and timpani mallet in the left --with impressive results.
