Composed in 1959 by Mongo Santamaria, Afro Blue became one of the earliest jazz standards written in an Afro-Cuban style. This creative setting for concert band utilizes the African bemb� rhythm, along with characteristic melodies and harmonies alternating between various sections of the band.
