Description
Piano — This cycle, originally written in 1995 and revised twenty-five years later, strives to unite the art of Satie and Stravinsky: Ivory inlays, cut into sound, subjected to the background action of a time-structure outside of them. Unpredictable events occur in musical (or not-musical) materials that are sometimes deliberately "found object", sometimes banal, and definitely "plastic": they corrode, become victims of unexpected material deterioration, become shorter or longer, but in any case they retain a relentlessness (perhaps related to Stravinsky) , an exposure to anything, sometimes a fragility, through which they can even be expressive, like any other music, only in a different medium, with a different meaning. During the revision, I enriched their sound world, I highlighted their visceral beauty, precisely so that their "exposure" would become even more perceptible, more flesh-cutting.'' (Gyula Csapó)
