Description

Piano — Volume 24 of series II of the New Liszt Edition contains transcriptions faithful to the scores of works by Bach, Beethoven, Ferdinand David, Eduard Lassen, Mozart, Robert and Clara Schumann, and Wagner. In addition to piano versions of the Bach Fantasia and Fugue in G minor, Beethoven's song cycle An die ferne Geliebte, two excerpts from the sequences Confutatis maledictis and Lacrymosa of Mozart's Requiem, songs by Robert and Clara Schumann, and Isoldes Liebestod from Wagner's opera Tristan und Isolde, which are frequently programmed in concerts, two less well known works deserve attention: Ferdinand David's series of character pieces originally for violin and piano, Bunte Reihe, and a piano transcription of Eduard Lassen's orchestral Intermezzo (Symphonisches Zwischenspiel).
