Description

Piano — This volume contains the most substantial part of Liszt's transcriptions of Schubert Lieder: the entire Schwanengesang cycle consisting of 14 works and transcriptions of 12 of the Winterreise cycle of 24 songs. Before the music of each song the text is given in the original German.This edition is published in a hard clothbound edition as volume 21 of series II of the New Liszt Edition, with the preface in German and English and critical notes in English. The soft paper bound version of the edition is made for performing purposes, and does not contain critical notes. Both versions of the volume are illustrated with facsimiles of Liszt's original manuscripts, held in the Liszt Ferenc Memorial Museum and Research Centre in Budapest.
