Violin 1, Violin 2, Violin 3, Viola, Cello, Contrabass — Composed in the late 1700s, the Contredanse comes from Joseph Bologne’s only surviving opera, L’amant anonyme. Bologne is often compared to Mozart, and his compositions are energetic, refined, and delightful. This one is no exception. Originally for chamber orchestra, this arrangement is accessible to younger players while maintaining the spirit and integrity of the piece. The accessibility will open a gateway for young musicians to experience Bologne’s wonderful music.
