Piano — This work written for and dedicated to Lisa Moore is based on William Blake’s drawings and writings from his original work For the Sexes: The Gates of Paradise published in 1818. It was premiered by Ms. Moore in 2001 and has become one of Bresnick’s best known compositions. While basically written for solo piano, the work incorporates several additional components including spoken word, singing and optional visual images available on a DVD which will make performances a truly unique multimedia experience. The piece is neo-tonal in style and best suited for and advanced player who has some experience playing contemporary music.
