Color Codas

Description

Piano, Piano — The three movements of Color Codas can be played individually or, preferably, as a set. “In the Red” flirts with extremes in dynamics and register; “Purple Passion” wears its heart on its sleeve; “Out of the Blue,” well what can I say... (“Out of the Blue” is an arrangement of the fourth movement, “Keep It Short,” of my trio for horn, violin and piano, Etudes and Parodies.)The work is written for the wonderful piano duo, Quattro Mani. Color Codas is a playful exploration of 2-piano textures. Each of the three movements, which can be played individually, as encores perhaps, explores the virtuosic color of the two-piano combination.
