Description
Violin 1, Violin 2, Viola, Cello, Contrabass, Piano — The rigadoon was a dance enjoyed in both England and France in the seventeenth century. This Rigadoon by Henry Purcell is one of the earliest examples written. As is true of most of the early dance music, it was performed in a stately manner. String pedagogue Doris Gazda has arranged a classic Henry Purcell piece for the youngest of students. Your orchestra will be able to achieve a full sound with the work’s limited technical demands. Rigadoon is a wonderful introduction to Baroque music for beginning students.
