Violin 1, Violin 2, Violin 3, Viola, Cello, Contrabass, Piano, Hand Drum, Triangle — Crown of Aragon is a haunting, but stately Pavanne in the Renaissance style. Young students will experience ABA style in the keys of D minor and F Major. Care has been taken to avoid all low first fingers, but low second fingers will be used throughout. The middle section features lower string melodies on the C string for viola and cello, and into third position briefly for bass. The alternating between arco and pizzicato not only helps with dynamic contrast, but creates a unique texture when accompanied with the optional triangle and hand drum.
