Flute 1, Oboe 1, Flute 2, Oboe 2, Clarinet in Bb, Bass Clarinet, Alto Saxophone, Tenor Saxophone, Baritone Saxophone, Trumpet in Bb, Horn, Trombone, Euphonium, Bassoon, Bb Euphonium, Tuba, Mallet Percussion, Bells, Timpani, Percussion 1, Snare Drum, Bass Drum, Percussion 2, Sleigh Bells — Performance NotesSix-Note Sleigh Ride is written for young bands with at least six weeks of instruction. It is intended for directors who plan to have a beginning band performance at or near the winter holidays. The 6 notes needed for a performance are found in every beginning band method, B-flat scale-wise up to G. The grade level is 1/2. Clarinet notes are below the break. The wind parts contain no eighth-notes. The snare drum plays eighth-notes for a little rhythmic variety. A suitable tempo will be decided by the director. All instruments will have an opportunity to play the melody to Jingle Bells.Regarding the continuous Sleigh Bells part, young players may not be able to play the part steadily from beginning to end. If so, the director may wish to have other players share the part at suitable intervals. Thank you for choosing this composition. I hope you and your students will find it instructive and enjoyable.Sincerely, Joseph Compello Here's an expertly crafted arrangement of the classic holiday song, Jingle Bells. Using only the first six notes of the B-flat scale and no eighth notes, this piece can be performed confidently by the most inexperienced beginning-level concert bands. All instruments have an opportunity to play the melody. A perfect go-to!
