Description
Soprano, Alto, Piano, C Instruments — The Nocturne form is mostly associated with the piano. The form is widely credited to John Fields, an Irish composer as the creator of the form. The form was later popularized and perfected by Polish composer and Piano Virtuoso, Frédéric Chopin. Inspired by the night, nocturnes evoke such things that are mysterious and haunting. This piece evokes images of the tremendously personal concept of our dreamscapes where our imagination is unleashed. Nocturne features a beautiful, singable melody for soprano and alto voices, supported by delicate harmonies that remain accessible for developing treble choirs. An optional flute or C-instrument part floats above like a soft descant, adding color and lift. The result is an enchanting, flowing piece that highlights the choir’s tone and musicality.
