Voice 1, Voice 2, Piano — This piece came about while I was expecting my second-born child. I was frequently considering the nature of siblings and the way that the relationship changes over time. What begins as sweet turns into a nuisance. A parent’s hope is that their children become friends, and that’s what I hope for my own kids.  Part 2 represents the younger sibling throughout the piece, and Part 1 represents the older. From the beginning of the song, we see the younger sibling following and chasing after the older as they try to do everything that the older sibling does, and the older sibling doesn’t necessarily always want them along. By the end of the piece, we see the older sibling inquire after the younger, looking for connection and friendship.  My goal was to tell a story that would resonate with students and highlight the value and growth that can come from familial relationships. Going (The Sibling Song) is a charming two-part treble arrangement by Ayrian Norman that celebrates the joy, growth, and connection found in sibling relationships. Cute and playful, this setting captures both the tenderness and lighthearted fun between siblings, making it a delightful addition to any concert program.
