Description
Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Bass — This arrangement takes a classic carol and combines it with a fun and lighthearted doo-wop style. When I taught it to my middle school students, we learned it on solfege in the Key of G to really help lock in the parts, especially the chorus. The solfege also helped us to learn the opening and transitions, as well as the solo section. Once, you get these parts down, it's pretty repetitive. We performed it for several of our Holiday Tour performances, and it was well-received by audience members from kindergarteners to senior citizens! I hope your students enjoy singing this arrangement as much as my students did!Performance suggestion:Add snaps on the off-beats (beat 4 and 10) to enhance the style, but stop snapping during the solo (measures 28-35) and for the last two measures when it slows down (measures 47-48). What happens when a classic holiday carol is combined with a fun and lighthearted '50s doo-wop style of singing? Doo-Wop Gloria!! So much fun for any mixed ensemble, but certain to "fit" the emerging mixed ensemble for holiday performances!
