Description

Soprano 1, Soprano 2, Alto, Piano, Violin — The composer/arranger has combined parts of two Latin hymns in this setting. The first part comes from "Hodie Christus natus est" (Today Christ is born), using only the first two lines and the final "alleluia." These lines, sung by the sopranos, are based on the chant by the same name. Then the altos enter with the familiar lines from the second work, the Latin hymn "Adeste Fideles" (O Come, all ye faithful), "Venite adoremus", which they pronounce 3 times before adding ''Dominum.”In the center section, presented in English, the composer gives us the result of our coming into awareness of the Christmas birth. She then returns to the two Latin hymns, finishing softly as events in the stable continue to unfold.Pronunciation GuideAw - dee - eh Krees - toos nah - toos ehst: Sahl - vah - tawr ah - pah - roo - eet, aw - dee - eh.
