Voice 1, Voice 2, Piano, Flute, Drum — The Kerry Dancexa0was written in 1879 by Irish composer James Lynam Molloy (1837-1909). Although schooled to study law, he flourished and made his name as a composer of best-loved Irish melodies includingxa0Bantry Bayxa0andxa0 Love's Old Sweet Songxa0instead.The charming Kerry Dance stands out especially for musical contrast between the lilting, dancing melodies of the first and last sections and its sad, melancholic phrases in the middle of the piece. In this arrangement I have added a bright rhythmic accompaniment with original lyrics and melody that sets the tone for the dance. It reappears at the conclusion of the choral to form a surprise partner song ending. This charming arrangement ofThe Kerry Dance stands out for its musical contrasts between lilting melodies and sad, melancholic phrases along with a surprise partner song ending.
