Trumpet in Bb 1, Trumpet in Bb 2, Horn in F, Trombone, Tuba — "Bandera For Brass" is a three-movement work that was inspired by aperformance the composer attended by a brass quintet from Pershing'sOwn Army band at the 1997 Colorado Music Educators' Conference. Littledid she know that several months later, she would serendipitously meetthe trombonist from that quintet and that he would choose to premiere thework. Designed to stretch the players, the piece is a complex tapestry ofmelodies, harmonies, and rhythms. Instruments dart in and out through amaze of sound, creating a web of intrigue that holds the listener captiveuntil the very end.
