Description
Very few of Niccol Paganini's original compositions were published in his lifetime as most were written for his own use when concertizing. Following his death, many works were discovered in manuscript form and remained unknown until 1911, when they were acquired for Wilhelm Heyer's Museum of Musical Historics in Cologne. The 4 POSTHUMOUS COMPOSITIONS in this collection edited by Georg Kinsky and Fritz Rothschild have been prepared for violin with piano accompaniment. Extensive notes on the history of each work and nature of the edits are included in the Preface. Included: 1. Movimento Perpetuo (originally for Violin and Orchestra); 2. Variations on a Theme by Joseph Weigl (originally for Violin and Orchestra); 3. Cantabile e Valzer, Op. 19/MS 45 (originally for Violin and Guitar); 4. Cantabile, Op. 19/MS 109 (written for Violin and Piano). Reprint edition.
